My Favorite Health & Wellness iPhone Apps

First I want to apologize to anyone that doesn’t have an iPhone. But I wanted to share some of my favorite fitness, Nutrition, and Wellness Apps. I think some of the apps may also be available in other phone application stores but I am not quite sure. If you don’t have an iPhone but think you may want one, e-mail me, I will convince you in 5 seconds as to why you need to make the switch ;)

1. Sleep Cycle Alarm- “The Sleep Cycle alarm clock is a bio-alarm clock that analyzes your sleep patterns and wakes you when you are in the lightest sleep phase. Waking up in the lightest sleep phase feels like waking without an alarm clock – it is a natural way to wake up where you feel rested and relaxed.” I have the hardest time waking up in the mornings so I thought I would give this a try and I was extremely impressed. You place you iPhone face down at the head of the bed and it is able to track your sleeping patterns based on your movements throughout the night. It wakes you up within a 5-10 minute time frame of the time you set your alarm. I have woken up very easily every time I have used this alarm. I think there was only one night I did not hear it in the morning. There are 8 different sounds you can wake up to, my favorite is “warm breeze”. Below you can see some of my sleep patterns. Sleep Cycle is currently $.99 in the app store, it is definitely worth it, if you don’t have it.

2. MyFitnessPal-

is “a diet and fitness community built with one purpose in mind: providing you with the tools and support you need to achieve your weight loss goals.” I have tried many different online nutrition journals but MyFitnessPal is the best I have found so far, not only can you update your diary online you can now update it on your iPhone with this app. The main reason I like this program the best is because it is extremely user friendly and has a huge food database. It has many different features including a Food Diary, Exercise Diary, Water intake, and Check in. You can read more about it in my review. The best part of this app is, it’s free!

3. Hundred Push Ups- If you are like me and have the arm strength of a TRex, this may be a program to check out. Hundred Push Ups is a 6 week training program with the end goal of being able  to complete 100 consecutive push ups. I am only on the first week of training so when I get farther along I will give you a better update but the app is very user friendly and I really like the training so far. This app is $1.99 in the iTunes store.

4. Mint.com-

I needed to get my finances in order, New York is one expensive City! So I enlisted the help of Mint.com. If you don’t know what Mint.com is, it is an online money management system. You can read more about it in my review. But lucky for me they also created an app that gives you push warnings when you go over a budget, you have a finance fee or when a bill is due. It is one of the most helpful applications I have on my iPhone. Mint.com is a free app.

Some of my other favorite iPhone apps are: Eat this Not That, Shape Magazine Travelista, Where’s Waldo, and of course Echofon
