Yesterday was the annual Self Workout in the Park! Being fairly new to New York City, I decided I had to try it. After all, who doesn’t want to spend all day in Central Park working out. I met up with many of my fellow New York Bloggers: Missy Maintains, Fitness NYC, Julie Go Lean, Miss Chubby Hubby, Living Life Anti-Blah, Namaste Mari, and Food Snob. It was my first time meeting most of them and I had so much fun! ![038_thumb[1]](http://shapeupcity.files.wordpress.com/2010/05/038_thumb1.jpg?w=300&h=225)
The event was extremely organized, check in took no longer than 10 minutes and we were on our way into the Park. The area felt a little small for all the girls and the few guys that were there. There was a Rebounding area, Quiet Zone (yoga), and the main stage. Each area except for the main stage held about 25-30 people at a time. The main stage was completely open and would pack in as many as you want. Each class would last around 25 minutes. The Rebounding and the Quiet Zone was very hard to get into because so many people wanted to take those classes. The best way to go was to stay at the main stage and do all the workouts they offered there. Some of the workouts on the main stage included: Masala Bhangra, Ab Attack, Cardio Tai Box, and Rock Bottom.
Around the areas were all the sponsors of the event. Some tents were better than others but I found some great products. My favorite sponsors of the event were: Reebok Easy Tones, Soy Joy, Silk, Almond Breeze, and Jane Iredale.
Reebok Easy Tone: I have always been a huge fan of these shoes! The idea came from the Balance Balls that you can find in gyms. “Our proprietary toning technology is based on the benefits of Instability Training that have been proven over time to tone your muscles.” I have never owned them, but hopefully that will change soon and I will write a review shortly so stay tuned. They also recently have added Easy Tone’s where you can create your own!
Soy Joy: I had actually never had a Soy Joy bar until yesterday and I fell in love. I tried their new flavor Blueberry and I am now hooked. With only 140 calories, 0g Trans Fat, Gluten Free, and around 20 ingredients they are easily my favorite snack bars. Most snack bars like Nutri•Grain and Chewy Bars have over 50 ingredients! If you want a quick snack this would be the way to go!
Jane Iredale: Is a mineral make-up line. They had an amazing lip plumper that I didn’t think I would like but after putting it on, I loved it!
Overall I had an amazing time. The event was extremely organized and they had some great classes. I did feel the space they used was a bit small for all the people they had attend. I wish they could have used a larger space so I wouldn’t have felt like I was working out on top of someone and the classes were a little longer than 20 minutes. But I met some amazing people and had a great time. I plan on going back next year!
